As with our other gins, we start by using the finest base spirit possible – our 12-hour copper-distilled vodka. MARTINEZ COCKTAIL

The Martinez cocktail holds a fascinating place in cocktail history as a predecessor to the classic Martini. Originating in the mid-19th century, its exact origins are somewhat shrouded in mystery, adding to its allure. Believed to have been born in the town of Martinez, California, this cocktail quickly gained popularity during the California Gold Rush era.

Ingredients
4 parts Purity Old Tom Gin
2 parts sweet vermouth
1/2 part Maraschino liqueur
1 dash of aromatic bitters
Lemon twist

Method
Pour the Purity Old Tom Gin, sweet vermouth, Maraschino liqueur, and bitters into a mixing glass with ice cubes. Stir well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Twist the lemon peel over the drink and drop it into the glass.

Softer on the palate, Old Tom is still bursting with classic juniper flavor and the heady herbaceous notes of basil and thyme. The finish is pleasantly round, with a subtle aftertaste of Nordic lingonberries and blueberries. The copper distillation and organic sugar cane are selected to give a warm sweetness and amplify the botanicals in the gin.
