Meet Master Blender Mathias Tonnesson

Every bottle of Purity begins long before the first drop is distilled. It begins with something deeper — a feeling. A relentless pull toward creating something meaningful. As Master Blender of Purity, this isn’t just my job. It’s who I am. I don’t chase trends or follow the rules of the spirits world. I chase moments, the kind that make someone take a sip, close their eyes, and feel something they didn’t expect.

For me, craftsmanship is a love letter to nature and time. It’s about listening — to the grain, the stills, the silence between each distillation. It’s about care and obsession. That’s what wakes me up each morning: the pursuit of something pure, something honest, something unforgettable.

Copper, Character, and No Shortcuts

We distill slowly. Obsessively. Up to 51 rounds of copper surface distillation. Every pass through the copper stills is a step closer to true smoothness, that perfect center of the spirit that carries flavor, clarity, and soul. I don’t take shortcuts. I don’t believe in masking flaws with filters. We don’t filter our vodka because we don’t need to. We’ve already done the work.

Each drop of Purity is the result of time, patience, and commitment. The copper doesn’t just clean the spirit — it shapes it. And what we’re left with is something I can only describe as true smoothness: a texture that glides, a finish that lingers, and a feeling that says, “Yes, this is it.”

Organic by Nature, Authentic by Choice

From the beginning, I knew we had to work with organic ingredients. Not just because it’s better for the planet — though it is — but because it’s the right thing to do. The way something is grown matters. The way people are treated in the process matters. And when you taste something that comes from a place of integrity, you feel it.

I work closely with our growers. I know the farms, the soil, the seasons. I know the stories behind the ingredients. And when those stories meet copper and time, something magical happens. That’s when spirit becomes art.

My Signature Is My Word

You’ll see my signature on every bottle of Purity. I didn’t add it for branding. I added it because I needed to own it. Every batch, every blend — I put my name on it because I believe in it. It’s not always perfect the first time. Sometimes I stay late, tasting, tweaking, starting over. But when it’s right, I know. And only then will I sign.

That signature is my promise. My way of saying, "This is the best I know how to give you."

The Joy Is in the Process

What I love most is the quiet moments. The time alone in the destilleri, experimenting. Adjusting by fractions. Smelling, tasting, feeling. Trying something unexpected just to see what happens. There’s a kind of intimacy in that process. You’re not just making a product. You’re creating something that will become part of someone’s celebration, their story, their life.

And then there’s the moment someone takes a sip, pauses, and smiles. That tiny pause is everything. That’s what I live for. Spirits should elevate. They should remind us that life is worth savoring.

Yes, the Awards Matter — But That’s Not the Point

It’s humbling to know that Purity has won over 239 international awards. That we’re the highest-rated vodka in the U.S. That our gin has been crowned the best in the world. I’m proud of that. Of course I am.

But that’s not why I do this.

I do it because I want you to experience something real. Something beautiful. I want your martini to taste like confidence. I want your Negroni to feel like a revelation. I want you to pour a glass of Purity and know, deep down, that someone cared about what went into it.

Making Luxury Feel Human

We set out to create world-class spirits without the ego. Spirits that could stand beside the greats — Grey Goose, Ketel One, Tanqueray — and still feel honest, accessible, and deeply satisfying.

Our Connoisseur 51 Reserve is smoother than any other vodka I’ve tasted. Our Signature 34 is the best everyday vodka on the shelf — full stop. Our gins? They speak for themselves. The Navy Strength is bold but elegant. The Old Tom is soft and layered. The London Dry is classic, but never boring.

And they’re all organic. All crafted with care. All made for the moments that matter.

This Is My Why

People sometimes ask me, “After all these years, what keeps you going?” And the answer is simple: I still care. I care about the details. I care about the feeling. I care about the people who choose Purity — not because it’s trendy, but because it’s true.

I keep going because there’s still more to explore. More to create. More stories to tell in a glass. And because every time someone chooses Purity, they’re not just drinking. They’re connecting — to the land, to the craft, to something greater.

So I’ll keep blending. I’ll keep distilling. I’ll keep signing.

Because this isn’t just what I do. It’s who I am.
