The Bee’s Knees is a classic of the 1920s, when “the bee’s knees” meant the very best. Gin, lemon and honey: simple, golden and timeless.

This version adds the deep color and berry-like sweetness of blood orange. Gin 34 Old Tom is a natural partner: its softer, rounder style and gentle sweetness embrace the honey, while the botanicals keep the drink fresh and lively.

A classic that blushes beautifully.

How to make it

Chill a coupe glass.

Add Gin 34 Old Tom, blood orange juice, lemon juice and honey syrup to a shaker.

Fill with ice and shake for about 12 seconds, until well chilled.

Strain into the chilled coupe and garnish with a blood orange wheel.

From the Master Blender

Blood oranges vary a lot in sweetness. Taste one before you shake and adjust the honey syrup by a few drops: the goal is a drink that tastes of fruit first and sugar never.
